Spotlight: CloudSigma launches a Dublin based cloud with Servecentric
CloudSigma is proud to announce that it has partnered with Irish Managed Hosting & IT Services provider Servecentric to launch a Dublin-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform, the Servecentric Enterprise Cloud. The joint venture aims at serving the rapidly expanding Irish market with a highly flexible and customizable native cloud deployment. Servecentric and CloudSigma hosted a successful launch event where the companies introduced the Servecentric Enterprise Cloud offering to Irish-based businesses and potential partners. We were happy to meet and network with many IT experts and enthusiasts from Ireland and the UK, and present the unique capabilities of our platform. During the launch, CloudSigma's CEO, Robert Jenkins emphasized the transparent billing and options for cost control as well as the ability to offer "unbundled resources" which gives flexibility to provision and consume as required. Many thanks to everyone who attended the event; we're looking forward to doing business with you.
Better performance at lower prices – our US cloud locations
We have recently undergone a major infrastructure, connectivity and pricing upgrade to our cloud locations in mainland US. First, we have upgraded our whole compute infrastructure across all locations in mainland US to HPE Generation 10 Intel® Xeon® Gold 6148 processors. Further, we have modified our connectivity strategy by connecting to our new exchange provider Megaport. We have also changed our data center provider and are currently hosted in Cyxtera. We are also happy to announce that we were able to decrease the prices for all US mainland cloud locations based on a combination of additional efficiency gains from the company's proprietary cloud technology and falling underlying hardware costs. Read more below to learn in detail about the recent upgrades in our services and the drop in prices in the US.
CloudSigma's public cloud fuels NASA Space Apps Challenge since 2013
CloudSigma was excited to sponsor NASA incubator innovation program, Space Apps for the sixth year in a row! Space Apps is the world's largest collaborative technology development event for software, hardware, data visualization and mobile apps. This year's edition Space Apps Challenge hackathon 2018 took place October 19-21 when participants tackled challenges such as analyzing NASA data to help monitor surprise events on Earth and uncovering new ways to explore space. CloudSigma's completely open software layer is especially conducive to this challenge as it lets competitors configure and deploy whatever they need, providing a truly flexible cloud platform for their research, data and inventions.
Why Germany offers the best conditions for cloud computing
Recently, the Software Alliance (BSA) released its annual "Global Cloud Computing Scorecard" for 2018, citing Germany as the country with the best environment and optimal conditions for cloud computing. One of the main reasons for the placing of Germany in first place is the advantages of the Federal Data Protection Act. Another key aspect that makes conditions in Germany suitable for cloud computing is the fact that the country is making good progress on extending broadband access to the population.
